From May 21 to 26, 2023 (local time), SID Display Week 2023 kicked off in Los Angeles, USA, where global display companies gathered to present their cutting-edge display technologies and product applications. Visionox, as a representative of China's emerging display industry, showcased three innovations, i.e. innovative AMOLED technology, innovative AMOLED application, and ViP technology. This article introduces innovative technological achievements in AMOLED displayed at this event.
In the technological innovation exhibition area, Visionox showcased several advanced AMOLED technologies that present better technological innovations across multiple dimensions, including 240Hz+ high refresh rate technology, ultimate full-round narrow bezel solution, VM7 device system, and dual-band dual-polarized 5G millimeter-wave antenna-on-display. It also enhances and explores the display value while enabling end-product upgrading.
Innovation-driven refresh: Visionox launched the world's first AMOLED mobile phone screen with a 240Hz+ high refresh rate
Visionox has been consistently pushing the boundaries of refresh rate AMOLED displays, starting from 90Hz and progressively advancing to 144Hz, 165Hz, and 180Hz, and now reaching even higher levels, making its way out with continuous innovations. At SID DW 2023, Visionox launched the world's first AMOLED mobile phone screen with a 240Hz+ high refresh rate. Furthermore, it successfully lit up the 265Hz screen equipped with higher-order ICs, achieving an ultra-high refresh rate of over 300Hz. Once again, Visionox establishes itself as a global leader in the high refresh rates for AMOLED mobile phone screens.
The 240Hz+ high refresh rate technology uses a unique drive circuit design to achieve a high refresh rate of 240Hz and a low Flicker value of -75dB. Offering better display experience and higher-quality images, such improvements may once again influence the widespread improvement of AMOLED refresh rate, bringing a more pleasant experience to gamers.
"All-round" innovation: Visionox launched the world's first ultimate full-round narrow bezel solution
For three consecutive years, Visionox has reaped remarkable achievements in narrow-bezel technology through continuous innovation, to build near-zero-bezel displays. At this exhibition, Visionox launched an ultra-narrow bezel, ultimate full-round narrow bezel, and ultimate zero-bezel solutions for wearables, among which the ultimate full-round narrow bezel solution is the industry's first 0.5mm narrow R-angle technology.
This technology uses a new pixel circuit driving method, combined with system algorithm optimization. Based on FIAA, the arc bezel is narrowed down to 0.5mm. At the same time, the display bezel width reaches 0.5mm on the left and right, 0.65mm at the top, and 0.6mm at the bottom. Therefore, it achieves extreme compression of full-round bezels. The ultimate zero-bezel solution is to build the near-zero-bezel display (less than 0.5mm) with a bending radius of 1.0mm in the active area of the panel, to bring into reality zero-bezel displays and bezel-less displays. Visionox's narrow bezel solutions provide more possibilities for end-product innovation.
Iteration of underlying technologies: Visionox VM7 device system
From Visionox's innovations starting from basic research, Visionox has always remained dedicated to research and innovation on device systems over the past twenty years. Based on the VM6 device system released last year, Visionox launched a new VM7 device system upgrade solution.
Through the layout of reconfigured materials and devices, the solution optimizes the device capacitance and electron-hole balance, improves reliability, and reduces power consumption by over 10%. In addition, it extends the lifetime by over 10% and greatly improves the first frame drag (FFR) performance. Also, the screen performance once again enjoys optimization through underlying technological innovations.
Green innovation: Visionox's low-power AMOLED display solution
Low power consumption emerges as screen performance and image quality improve. Moreover, high-quality and low-power AMOLED display has become the pursuit of innovation for panel enterprises. On this basis, Visionox developed low-power AMOLED display solutions to reduce power consumption comprehensively and systematically in drive circuits, optical structures, and material systems. Through technological innovation, Visionox practices green development while boosting energy conservation and emission reduction.
Visionox offers an impressive range of low-power solutions, including the industry-leading EnV ALT low-frequency LTPS. It realizes 1-120Hz adaptive switching based on Visionox's new driving solution. By ensuring the stability of potential, LTPS can be driven at a low frequency and realize 0-255 full grayscale without flicker. It serves as the first choice of lean manufacturing and can be adapted to any intelligent terminal with any brand positioning. In addition, Visionox showcased the high-performance optical extraction technology (HLEMS) and VM7 device system as mentioned above. These low-power solutions will reduce at least 10% of the power consumption.
Integrate and expand Visionox's dual-band dual-polarized 5G millimeter-wave antenna-on-display technology
As AMOLED boasts remarkable integration capabilities, new features emerge along with performance improvement, such as the under-display camera and the under-display 3D face recognition previously released by Visionox. Visionox also further expands the AMOLED integration space around display and sensor integration, and releases its dual-band dual-polarized 5G millimeter-wave antenna-on-display technology and integrated optical fingerprint technology.
Visionox's dual-band dual-polarized 5G millimeter-wave antenna-on-display technology represents a significant breakthrough in integrating an antenna within a screen. It can cover 5G millimeter wave bands n260 & n261, with about 9dBi array gain and ±45° scanning. At the same time, by leveraging the bending characteristics of flexible AMOLEDs, the antenna integration area is set to the side, effectively minimizing possible hand or body occlusion. It can offer wider signal coverage, a higher transmission rate, and a better roaming experience for users. As Visionox continues to explore display and sensor integration, more possibilities for the integration of AMOLED displays will be available, providing new directions for value enhancement.
Visionox is committed to improving users' visual experience with ever-upgrading technologies. In the future, Visionox will adhere to innovation and promote research on cutting-edge technologies to deliver more and better innovative solutions for end product reforms.
