On December 19, 2024, the World Conference on Innovation and Development in the Display Industry was opened grandly in Chengdu, China, with the theme of “Displays Everywhere • Reflecting Countless Scenarios”. Visionox was invited to attend the conference with a variety of innovative technologies and applications and showcased its ViP smartwatches, mobile phones, and medium-sized exhibits for the first time to the industry at this conference. Visionox’s first mass-produced product of the ViP smart pixel technology was honored with the title of “Top Ten Innovative Technologies (Products)”.
At this conference, Visionox exhibited the ViP AMOLED display screen used for smartwatches, mobile phones, and laptops.
Compared to FMM AMOLED display screens, ViP AMOLED display screens feature more vibrant colors and finer image quality. The ViP watch features a 1.5-inch screen with a resolution of 466*466 and switching the refresh rates of 1-60 Hz. The ViP mobile phone features a 6.88-inch screen with a resolution of 1316*2832 and switching the refresh rates of 1-120Hz. As the most eye-catching product at the conference, the ViP medium-sized product boasts a 14.2-inch flexible display screen, a resolution of 3120*2080 and a peak brightness of 800 nits, drawing the attention of many experts and visitors at the exhibition.
After preliminary technical preparations and more than a year of accelerated development, Visionox has achieved mass production for the ViP technology. In September of this year, the world's first 8.6-generation AMOLED production line equipped with the FMM-free technology started its operation in Hefei, Anhui Province.
Currently, tasks are progressing smoothly for the mass production line, such as the infrastructure construction, communication about equipment, and communication with customers. This production line achieves upgrades in four aspects, including technology, size, efficiency, and application. As a higher-generation AMOLED production line, it is technologically advanced and highly compatible, and has a wide coverage. Visionox is collaborating with Hefei Govisionox to rapidly promote the mass production of ViP. With the smooth advancement of Visionox, the ViP technology is starting its layout gradually in the industry. According to Ross Young, a well-known display screen analyst from Counterpoint Research, a survey firm, Applied Materials recently announced the MAX OLED solution, which does not require FMM or evaporation equipment. Samsung is evaluating this solution and has placed orders for related equipment.
Today, OLED has become the mainstream technology in the display industry, with a penetration rate of more than 50% in smartphones and smartwatches, and is further penetrating into medium-sized applications. According to the OLED Display Market Tracking Report, issued by Omdia, the shipment volume of small- and medium-sized OLEDs is expected to exceed 1 billion for the first time by 2025, covering multiple application areas including gaming consoles, AR/VR/MR headsets, automotive displays, laptops, tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, and industrial display panels.
OLEDs are ushering in a golden age of its development! The challenge is how to seize the better opportunity. Based on forward-looking predictions about and layouts for industrial development, Visionox has continued to innovate in small-, medium-, large- and full-sized technologies and explore new fields of OLED applications. At the exhibition, Visionox showcased several innovative medium-sized applications, including transparent displays, floating displays, and curling laptops. In the vehicle-mounted display sector, it also introduced the C-shaped solid curl central control vehicle-mounted display for the first time, in addition to showcasing the world's first vehicle-mounted slip and curl AMOLED display screen applied to the Hongqi Guoya high-end executive cars. This exhibit has a bending radius of R15 and a bending angle of 130°, which enables small-radius, small-angle vehicle-mounted curved displays and ensures that the touch control area is clicked more precisely and controlled more conveniently on the lower platform. This addresses inaccurate clicks on the central console display during driving and achieve safer driving.
As the market share of AMOLED display screens continues to rise in China year by year, China is playing an increasingly important role in the global competition in the AMOLED display industry. It poses both recognition and motivation for Chinese manufacturers, including Visionox. Visionox will continue independent innovation and sustainable innovation to embrace the golden age of OLED, making Chinese screens the world’s ones.
