From May 21 to 26, 2023 (local time), SID Display Week 2023 kicked off in Los Angeles, USA, where global display companies gathered to present their cutting-edge display technologies and product applications. Visionox, as a representative of China's emerging display industry, showcased three innovations, i.e. innovative AMOLED technology, innovative AMOLED application, and ViP technology. This article introduces innovative AMOLED applications displayed at this event.
In the innovative application exhibition area, Visionox released new medium-sized AMOLED applications, such as rollable laptops and transparent car displays. It also showcased innovative applications such as visual medical kits and rollable projection screens. Furthermore, it provides new ideas and development directions for accelerating the penetration of medium-sized AMOLED products into terminal applications.
The launch of AMOLED rollable laptop and transparent car display attracted much attention
AMOLED serves as a driving force for the innovation of smart products because of its multiple advantages, such as good display effect, lightness, flexibility, and transparency. At present, it maintains a high penetration rate in the small-sized application sector, including smartwatches and smartphones. At the same time, large- and medium-sized AMOLED applications have attracted increasing attention from the market with remarkable breakthroughs in this field.
According to Omdia's data in 2022 and the AMOLED import plan made by several global key customers on medium-sized smart terminal applications, the shipment of medium-sized AMOLED displays will witness turning point growth in 2024 and be a new growth factor for the AMOLED market.
A rollable and competitive laptop! The portable rollable laptop, an innovative terminal released at this event, is equipped with Visionox's 14-inch AMOLED display and can be rolled up for storage, freeing itself from the laptop stereotype. Also, thanks to the flexible AMOLED display, the laptop is successfully "slimmed down". As a result, the entire laptop has a diameter of only 64mm when stored. A lighter, smaller laptop makes us more comfortable while studying or working.
Super cool transparent car body! Recent years witnessed the rising smart driving car market penetration. Meanwhile, Visionox has extended AMOLED displays to automotive applications. In terms of automotive displays, AMOLED has been enjoying applications in central control, dashboard, co-pilot, rear seat entertainment screen, digital rearview, and A-pillar. The transparent automotive application displayed by Visionox marks another stride forward, applying transparent AMOLEDs to the car body. This AMOLED display boasts a transmittance of 48%, allowing a seamless transition between display and lighting requirements. In the future era of intelligent driving, more displays will be used inside and outside the car to provide users with a better driving experience with a more comfortable third space.
Strategies accelerate the implementation of medium-sized AMOLED innovations and solutions
Based on the market demand for products with different sizes, Visionox has formulated the strategies of consolidating the success in small-sized display applications, expanding new medium-sized display applications, and opening up a new large-sized display market.
Visionox has never ceased its exploration of innovative technologies and applications. ViP technology will satisfy the medium-sized AMOLED display requirements for higher performance, such as long lifetime, high brightness, high PPI, and low power consumption, boosting the implementation of innovative medium-sized AMOLED applications.
Regarding laptop applications, in addition to the displayed rollable laptop, Visionox launched a medium-sized flexible AMOLED under-display camera solution for laptops in 2022; Equipped with the ultra-narrow bezel technology, the screen-to-body ratio can be improved to 91% from 85% of traditional laptops.
Visionox has already made a forward-looking strategic plan for the development and innovation of automotive applications. From the domestic debut of the automotive AMOLED dashboard in 2016, to the world's first mass-produced transparent A-pillar in 2019 and the release of flexible AMOLED automotive human-computer interaction (HMI) solutions in 2022, Visionox remains committed to developing automotive AMOLED applications from zero to one.
In 2022, Visionox signed a strategic cooperation agreement on a joint innovation lab with FAW Group, to build a domestically-leading and world-class innovative platform for smart cabins and advanced displays. In addition, Visionox launched in-vehicle integrated touchscreen displays in varying sizes and forms.
In the future, Visionox will roll out more competitive innovative solutions for application scenarios of laptops, cars, and TV. It will also work with customers to accelerate the commercialization of innovative technologies, delivering a more pleasant visual experience to consumers.
